This Day's Love is... Timpe's Halloween Costume

I am obsessed with my friend Timpe's Halloween costume. It possesses the 3 criteria for a great costume: nostalgia, craftsmanship, and spandex.

Timpe crafted his Mighty Morphin Power Ranger outfit from little boy's athletic spandex, t-shirts, a pillowcase, and ingenuity. I am particularly jazzed by the pouch he added to carry his personal effects.

I lacked creativity and motivation this year. Thusly, I resorted to one of the most standard costumes of all time: ghost, as seen in the above photo (that's me on the left). It was a huge hit and the response far outweighed the effort I actually put into the costume, but I'm not sure if it was worth sweating like the dickens under there.

This Day's Love Is... Tailoring!

I am newly obsessed with tailoring. After enduring a lifetime of hellacious shopping trips attempting to find miracle jeans that fit my absurdly constructed body, I decided to try a revolutionary concept: tailoring.

I went to the Fig Leaf in Boston's South End where Vernon the fierce tailor sculpted the jeans to fit my body as Elton John and Mariah Carey played on Magic 106.7. Needless to say it was a special experience.

A week and $47 later, I have 3 pairs of jeans that fit me perfectly. I highly recommend Vernon at the Fig Leaf and tailoring in general- it is unbelievably easier than hunting for the perfect pair of pants.
